Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

This weekend, I traveled to Inis Mór, which is 30 miles from Galway by ferry. I also traveled 50 miles to see Connemara National Park! In total, I traveled 160 miles to and from Galway.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

I have been living in Ireland for approximately three months, and I am very fortunate to have seen many beautiful places so far. I have traveled to Cork, Cobh, The Aran Islands, Connemara, Glendalough, Dublin and more! It is difficult to sum up the total distance, but the furthest place to which I have traveled so far was Dublin, at 116 miles away.

How did I get around this week?:

Most of the time, I prefer to walk to and from the city. It takes approximately 30 minutes to walk to the city center, and I love to take in the sights along the way! If I am traveling to a new place, I like to hop on one of Ireland's many bus systems. This weekend, I took a ferry to the island of Inis Mór and a bus tour of Connemara. While on the island, my friend and I rented bikes to see the sights.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

I loved visiting The Kylemore Abbey and Victorian walled garden in Connemara! Kylemore was built as a castle in the late 1800s and once housed the Duke and Duchess of Manchester.
