What main languages are spoken here?:

The main language spoken in Florence is Italian, and nearly all the signs are written in Italian. Since a lot of tourists come to the city, there are also a handful of other languages spoken here including English. Most Italian students have taken a few English language courses and speak the language well.

What type of money is used here?:

Italy uses the euro, which, like the U.S. dollar, comes in the form of bills and coins. There are 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 euro bills, 1 and 2 euro coins and 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cent coins. While the sign for the dollar is $, the sign for the euro is € (for example, €5).

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

Typically, a bottle of water costs between €1 and €2, however, the water from the faucets is drinkable, and I usually carry a refillable water bottle with me everywhere I go because all throughout the city are drinking fountains. There is even one hidden behind the statues in Piazza della Signoria that has both still and sparkling water!

What was the best meal this week?:

The best meal I ate this week was a plate of gnocchi (a pasta-like dumpling made from potatoes and flour) topped with tomato sauce and cheese. The gnocchi were so delicious! They tasted like pasta but were soft and chewy like marshmallows!
