The Inside Scoop From an Australian Teenager

Introduction:

I live in a homestay with two Australian teenagers: Sienna (14) and Ashley (16). They have lived in Sydney their whole lives, so I interviewed them for y'all to compare and contrast between the US and Australia.

Also, I apologize to y'all that there are barely any pictures in this post! I moved out of their homestay very shortly after I interviewed them. I did what I could.

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

Sienna and Ashley both eat vegemite toast in the morning. Vegemite is a "food spread" made from yeast and various spice and vegetable additives. Unlike jam, it is not sweet! Sienna swears that Americans don't know how to make it right, and that's why we think it's gross. This week, Sienna is going to help me make it "the right way." As kids, Ashley and Sienna also had vegemite sandwiches for lunch. Now, they often get lunch at their school's canteen. A canteen is like a cafeteria, except the food isn't premade, and they say it's overpriced. For dinner, they usually eat whatever their mom makes, including pasta, pizza and stir fry.

What is your house like?:

Their house is not very different from an American house. It's fairly big, with two stories and a pool. Sienna pointed out that they open windows instead of turning on the air condintioning. They also hang clothes to dry instead of using the dryer.
