Our News

Additionally, I usually listen to different comedy or news podcasts on my commutes to and from school in order to pass the time.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

The most fun activity this week was definitely just relaxing at the beach. Being able to catch up on reading and look out at the water makes me appreciate living in Malta since I can get away from the stress of school and work with a quick walk down to the sea.

What did I read this week?:

This week, I continued reading the book I started when I first got here, called The Idiot by Elif Batuman. This novel details the life of a young woman when she briefly moves abroad, and I find it quite relatable to my current life.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

One sport I practiced quite a bit this week is swimming. As someone who used to be a competitive swimmer, I've found plenty of time and places to swim here--between the national pool and all of Malta's beaches. I have also joined a water polo club here, as it is a very popular sport in Malta, and since I played in college, I am excited to keep playing! However, it is much less common for women to play here than for men.

Other news from this week:

This week was especially fun as I had enough time to swim in the sea and relax every single day! This is something that I would love to be able to do every week. However, after a few days off for midterm break, I missed teaching my students and had a great time teaching English the last few days of the week. I taught a lesson about Halloween since my students were very curious about how we celebrate Halloween in the U.S.
