Oishii Tabemono!!! (Delicious Food!!!)

I still don't know what some of them were, but they were all delicious. Our lesson then ended with a group photo featuring our instructor holding his really cool katana (traditional Japanese sword).

What food did I try?:

In the morning, I tried Japanese-style pancakes at a nearby Denny's. In the afternoon, I had homemade udon noodles with fried prawns and vegetables.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I was excited to finally try Japanese-style pancakes, since I'd only seen them on YouTube. They were so fluffy and soft. I loved them! With regard to the udon, I felt proud to have successfully made the noodles from scratch and was ecstatic at how good everything tasted. It was very fresh and not greasy at all, even though the side dishes were fried.

How is the food prepared?:

The pancakes are made on a griddle or pan, just like regular pancakes. They simply have a different recipe that makes them fluffy and tall. The udon noodles are boiled in water. The vegetables and prawns are fried.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

Japan is a country surrounded by water, making seafood one of the main sources of protein. Grains are also prominent throughout many Asian countries due to lanscape and cultural significance, making rice and noodles the main source of carb-related foods.
