Oishii Tabemono!!! (Delicious Food!!!)

Introduction:

This entire trip was filled with so many experiences that I was able to try something new, everyday. These experiences definitely included the food. From cooking classes to restaurants to fast food, I tried a lot of new things. I can hardly decide which dish I want to share with you!

For now, I will share my experience making and eating udon. Udon is a noodle dish that can be served cold or hot in multiple ways. I often saw it eaten as a standard noodle soup dish, like ramen. After researching a bit, I learned that it is served that way when cooked hot. My classmates and I were served cold udon, so it came with a tangy sweet sauce and was served with side dishes.

This day was filled with food from the start. Before our lesson, my friends and I woke up extra early so that we could finally check out a restaurant that we were used to seeing back home in the U.S.: Denny's. We were curious about how different the dishes would be, and wanted to try Japan's famous souffle pancakes for ourselves. We were not disappointed. I was served pink lemonade, eggs, bacon and sausage, a side salad, and two very thick and fluffy pancakes. At first, I thought "these pancakes are smaller than back home." However, they made up for their size by their thickness. I almost couldn't finish the meal. Overall, it was very delicious, well-balanced, and I felt full, but not stuffed.
