Ikebana Flowers

Introduction:

One day, my teacher shared with us that we would have a special art class. Unsure of what it was, my friends and I traveled across the city via train and bus and on foot. We met our instructor for the day, who shared that we would be learning how to create "ikebana," a Japanese style of arranging flowers. We soon reached a gigantic building with a sign that translated to "Flower Auction Japan." Inside were hundreds of beautiful flowers from all over the world. We were tasked to pick the flowers we wanted for our creations. I found a strange flower that was unlike anything I'd seen before. It was called the "crested cockscomb". After observing it for a while, I decided that it was perfect.

What does this creature or plant look like?:

The plant was a bright orange color (my favorite!) and, instead of soft, separated petals, it appeared to be one large petal that folded around itself, convoluted almost like a brain. On top of that, it was fuzzy like a stuffed animal or a comfy blanket!

How did I feel when I saw it?:

When I first saw it, I was confused, yet intrigued. I loved the bright color, but I wasn't sure I liked the shape. After picking it up and feeling the petals, though, I couldn't stop smiling and thought it was so cool. It made me feel happy and comforted. I couldn't leave it behind.
