When I went, they had an entire exhibition dedicated to Irish Romance Fiction. You may have heard of Sally Rooney, or specifically her novel-turned-show-starring-Paul-Mescal, Normal People. Well, the Irish are very proud of her mainstream success!
Irish literature is as diverse as its country. Literature coming from its cities is very different from rural literature. Within the cities itself, especially Dublin, you get entirely different perspectives on the same place! UCD and MoLI are very much attuned to how the different environments its diverse authors write in come to shape the literature itself. In Nithy Kasa's work, she describes the landscape of Dublin and Galway through the lens of an immigrant from Congo. In contrast, Mark Roper is English, but he has lived in the small town of Kilkenny for the majority of his life. It is a central tenet of recording and preserving Irish literature to contextualize it in its environment and ensure no voices are erased or unheard.
