How much does a bottle of water cost?:

Whenever I buy water, I go to Prince Ebeano Supermarket. This store is convenient because I can purchase two cases of twelve, 1.5 liter water bottles for 10,000 ₦ (about $6.70). I’m sure that a smaller bottle of water costs a lot less, but it is more practical for me to buy a large case because the tap water isn’t always safe for drinking. Worse, there is no way to ensure that all restaurants use quality, treated water when cooking! I have to be very selective with the restaurants I eat at, and still be careful while I’m cooking at home. If not, I could become incredibly sick. In fact, I've alreaedy gotten sick from the food and water here. Simultaneously, I had salmonella, two types of e. Coli, norovirus, shigella, and another parasite with a very complicated name!

What was the best meal this week?:

As I mentioned, I have to take great caution with what I consume. I have found that the best option for eating safe, healthy, tasty food is to cook at home! I’m not one to consider myself a chef, but since living here, I’ve become more adventurous with my cooking. This week, I made orange chicken. It was delicious and the best recipe I’ve ever cooked! I’m grateful that Abuja is an urban area because it is not too difficult for me to find grocery stores that sell diverse foods. Like their grocery stores, many restaurants serve different cultural cuisines. One popular Indian restaurant here is Cilantro. It has locations in other Nigerian cities like Lagos and Kano.

What music did I listen to this week?:

This week, I listened to music on my favorite streaming service, NTS Radio.
