Arabic is the official language of the UAE. Tthere are also many expatriates (U.S. citizens) in the UAE so English is a common language spoken in Dubai. You will also hear other languages such as Hindi, Urdu, Tamil, Bengali, Persian, Chinese and more.
The Arab Emirate dirham (AED) is the currency of the UAE. However, credit cards are widely accepted. So much so that I didn't even take out cash for this trip!
A bottle of water at a supermarket costs 2-5 dirham. 1 AED = .27 USD, so a bottle of water from a supermarket would cost between $0.54 - $1.36.
I had the chance to eat at one of my favorite resturants in the world in Dubai: Din Tai Fung (Taiwanese cuisine). I ate at this restaurant in Seattle with my friends last year and loved their XiaoLongBao (soup dumplings). I haven't found these soup dumplings in Minnesota, so I was so excited to eat them in Dubai!
