After being in Oxford for a few weeks now, I've started to notice some of the finer details about the city. One of the things I've noticed is that there are trees, bushes and vines all with the same little red berries on them! You can find them anywhere like in a park, planted by a road, or even in someone's front yard. Basically anywhere you go you're sure to see these berries (and surely step on them too!) and they stick out so vividly because of their bright color. But what exactly is this plant? I wasn't sure. Upon further investigation, I found out that the plants are Hawthorn bushes/trees!
Hawthorns can take on a few different types of appearances. They can look like a bush, tree, or even sometimes have a vine-like appearance where many small tree trunks have wrapped themselves around an object like a fence. The leaves are round and thankfully the branches don't have any thorns on them! The berries themselves are bright red and can be seen even from far away.
