I visited Boulders Beach, located in the Cape peninsula near the Western Cape province of South Africa, where I got to see the famous Cape Town penguins! The penguins were on the shy side, and my friends and I did not want to disturb them, so we tried to keep a safe distance as we took selfies with them in the background. I also visited the Two Oceans Aquarium, where I saw many different sea creatures such as stingrays and jellyfish. The shark exhibit is shaped like a tunnel that you can walk through. It felt as though the sharks were swimming around us, because the the ceiling was basically a water tank that created the tunnel. It was unnerving at first, but I managed to walk through completely wide-eyed as the blue light of the water washed over me. It almost felt like I was swimming with the sharks!
The coolest thing I saw in nature this week was the top of Table Mountain. It was the first destination my classmates and I wanted to visit during our break time. I am a city girl, so my "mountains" have always been skyscrapers. However, as I struggled, tumbled and laughed my way to the top of Table Mountain, I could not help but be awestruck by the beauty of the city from high ground.
On the walk from out first classes in Hout Bay, we encountered some very friendly sea lions who clapped for us whenever we fed them fish from the man who was tending to them.
