This week the weather was on the cooler side. We had a rain shower yesterday, which brought the temperature down from a warmer 78 degrees Fahrenheit to a cooler 63 degrees Fahrenheit. It was fascinating to see dark gray clouds creep in along the horizon after a day of pure sunshine. The rain poured for a while, and the rain water streamed downhill, down the many slopes near my homestay residence in Bo Kaap.
Cape Town is surrounded by the blend of two oceans, the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean. I find myself having to grab a good knitted sweater when the sun is setting and I'm walking on the beaches with the crashing waves and cooler air. During the daytime, though, the sun is shining and the temperature is much warmer. In the heart of Cape Town, there are larger city buildings that provide shade from the sun. I appreciate the shade on my walks to class.
