We're nestled in between Santorini and other Cyclades islands named Amorgos, Naxos, Ios, and Anhydros. I'm itching to see what they look like once we get off the ship in February. This area also has thousands of years of known human history, dating back to the Anicent Greeks and beyond!
The JOIDES Resolution is already pulling up rock and sediment samples from the seabed, and it's amazing to see this special ship doing exactly what it was build to do. I'm excited to show you how the science team and crew work together to collect the samples that may unlock some of the underwater mysteries of this volcanic region.
