Meet the HMS Oardacious Team

I didn't have much rowing experience before joining the team earlier this year, but this was important to me because I wanted to find a way to raise money for such an important cause. I’m a Chief Petty Officer Marine Engineering in the Royal Navy, which means that I look after the engines and nuclear reactors on submarines. I can’t wait to get away from land and be alone on the Atlantic Ocean, but I will miss my Christmas mince pies. I normally conduct a taste test of every different brand on sale in the United Kingdom each year!

Hi, I’m Tom and I’m the final member of the rowing team this year. I am also a Lieutenant Commander Marine Engineering, and I currently help sites where submarines are being built safe for everyone who works there. I had also not done much rowing before joining this team, but I’d seen the good work that was being done to support the unique needs of the submarine community and I wanted to help out. Plus, I couldn't pass on this once in a lifetime opportunity! I can’t wait to see my family again at the finish line in Antigua. During the race, I’m not looking forward to just two hours of sleep at a time, cold sea water showers, and a lack of delicious food like Pigs in Blankets!

Tom S
Hi again, young explorers. It's Tom, Team Manager for HMS Oardacious for this year's race. I’m a Lieutenant Commander Weapon Engineer currently developing future systems for submarines. Like a said above, my job suring this race is to do all the organizing and pass information back and forth. I’m the only person that will talk to the team every single day as I pass information and organize who else they want to talk to. I can't wait to share this team's journey with you!
