Meet the HMS Oardacious Team

Before the team is allowed to start the race, we have to make sure we’re safe to veture out into the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The team has done this through a series of courses such as First Aid (we won’t have access to a doctor or hospital in the middle of the ocean!) and Sea Survival. We have also trained extensively as a team, rowing together for more than seven days at a time to understand the challenges we'll face. This year we managed that by rowing along the British Coast between Portsmouth and Dartmouth in the middle of a storm! We got more seasick in that week then we did during the whole crossing in 2019!

I hope you can already sense that the next six weeks will be full of adventure and hardship, teamwork and resilience. The entire HMS Oardacious team is really excited for you to join us on this journey. Through a series of student-friendly articles and livestream events, you'll be an important part of this entire experience. Are you ready to cast off? Let's go!
