Hummus in the Holy City

With a country made up mainly of arid desert, this led to a lot of developments and associated achievements in agriculture. Some of these achievements include the development of drip and micro-irrigation technologies, new fruit and vegetable varieties and thermal imaging to map the water status of crops.

Outside of these technologies and innovations within agriculture, many Israelis are deeply connected to the land where their food comes from. Kibbutzim are popular models of living in Israel. These communities are traditionally based on agriculture and concentrate on communal living, where members of the kibbutz share responsibilities of child-rearing, cooking, cleaning and more. These kibbutzim offer a lot for the agricultural production and economy of Israel, alongside providing models for communal living.
