It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's a...segway?

I have not ridden a bike in Shenyang yet. I’m not a good biker, so I depend more on walking to nearby places.

Metro

I feel safe on the metro. The seats are usually taken, so I stand. The metro if pretty clean. It’s an overall fast and enjoyable experience.

Taxi

Taxis get my heart pumping. Not only do the taxi drivers love to drive fast, but they like to pass other cars. Seatbelts are a must in these situations. I would like to feel safer in taxis, but I always get to my destination on time. There’s always a balance.

Personal car

Personal cars provide the best feeling. I get a ride to the houses of students I tutor on the weekend. I’m driven by the parents of the kids in their personal cars. They drive slow, steady and in line with traffic. They’re also great conversationalists, so it’s a pleasant experience.

Other

I know I said my biking skills aren’t that good, but, let me tell you, my motorbike skills are non-existent. I never rode on one before.  Maybe one day!

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

Shenyang is a big city, with a growing population. Moreover, infrastructure is being developed in the city. On top of buildings, the city is also trying to increase green space. These contradictory developments require multiple modes of transportation. It’s easy and quick to access shared bikes in the park. It’s also easy and affordable to take the metro to the train station. Both options are becoming more and more popular as the years go on.
