Then on the side of the pasta is sangrecita, which is cooked chicken blood with different spices added.

What music did I listen to this week?:

Popular music often played in my town is Grupo 5, which is a famous Peruvian band. Their songs make you want to get up and dance! I also listened to festejo style music. There is a strong Afro-Peruvian culture where I live, so the more traditional music is Afro-Peruvian. I am currently learning how to dance festejo to this music. There are a lot of fast arm and hip movements.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

This week, I really enjoyed going to the school and teaching kids about dental health. There is a small health post in my town, which has a dentist. This dentist came to the school with me to teach kids about the importance of brushing our teeth, and how to prevent cavities by eating healthy. I also really enjoyed checking on the town's water system. Since I am an engineer, part of my job here is to help people have clean drinking water. I can do this by inspecting the water tanks, making sure the water treatment system is working and testing the water inside people's homes with a small kit that I have.

What did I read this week?:

I am currently reading a book called "The Island of Sea Women," which follows two girls living on a remote Korean island. They have a deep love for the sea, but, on their island, things are very different. The women are in charge and dive in the sea, which can be dangerous work. However, the men take care of the home and children. It is fascinating to learn about the culture of this small island!
