The weather this week was a lot nicer than it normally is! The sun doesn't rise here from November 21st to January 21st, but we still managed to have a lot of "bright" days where there weren't a lot of clouds. At the end of the week we got tons of snow, which is one of my favorite parts of living in Tromsø.
This week my sister came to visit me, and we decided to go on a whale watch boat. We were lucky enough to see tons of whales! We saw a lot of humpback whales, but my favorite part was seeing the orcas (also known as killer whales) at the end of the tour.
The coolest thing I saw in nature this week was the Northern Lights! The Northern Lights occur when certain particles from the sun interact with Earth's atmosphere. The result is a beautiful display of green, white and purple way up in the sky. Usually they're not very bright from the city, but you can see them on clear nights if you find a dark area.
