The main language that they speak here in Tromsø is Norwegian (or as they call it, Norsk). However, most people also speak English, which is very helpful. A lot of signs around Norway have information in both Norwegian and English. I'm still not very good and Norwegian, but I'm practicing! One phrase that I use a lot is tusen takk, which basically translates to "thank you very much."
In Norway, people use the Norwegian krone. One U.S. dollar equals about 10 kroner (11.32 kroner to be exact). Something interesting I've noticed is that most people here don't pay with cash, they only use a card or their phone. I don't actually have any Norwegian kroner in my wallet!
A bottle of water costs about 20 to 30 kroner, which is about two to three U.S. dollars. A lot of things in Norway are more expensive than they are back home, which took some getting used to. I've had to learn how to make my own budget and stick to it.
