In Tromsø, there are a lot of cozy cafes, and I spend a lot of time there trying new pastries, getting work done or chatting with my friends.
Unfortunately, I haven't discovered a lot of Norwegian music yet, so I've mostly been listening to music I already knew. I try to listen to a little bit of everything, but my favorite artist is Noah Kahan. By the end of my time here, I'm hoping to find some new Norwegian artists and songs to listen to. I'll make sure to keep you posted with my recommendations!
The most fun activity I did this week was downhill skiing at a small mountain right outside the city. In Norway they love skiing: cross country, downhill and back country. I'm hoping to get some more ski days in before going back home.
This week I read a book called "The Golden Compass" by Philip Pullman. My aunt recommended me this book because it's set in the Arctic, and it even talks about Svalbard! It's a fantasy book that's set in a world that feels like ours, but a little different. I really enjoyed it!
This week I played ultimate frisbee, which I started playing back at Bates College. I was very happy and surprised to find a team here in Tromsø. Fun fact! My team (the Arctic Terns) is the world's northernmost frisbee team. It's very nice to have practice a few times a week, beacuse it gives me something to do on the very dark and cold days.
