I've always wanted a dog (and they are abundant in Spain,) but they are not allowed in my house, unfortunately.
I have traveled primarily in Spain. I have gone to the north in San Sebastian and Bilbao, two cities in the Basque region of Spain. It's beautiful there, and the Basque language is very interesting. It is nothing like Spanish, nor any language I have ever heard. Apparently, the closest language to it is Japanese, although there's no way those two tongues co-developed.
I have also been to Barcelona in the east, which was also gorgeous and worth a visit. It's a more European city than Madrid, as it attracts more tourists. It is a wonderful city and I really enjoyed seeing the Gaudi architecture.
In the south, I have been to Cordoba, Granada and Sevilla. Of those three, I liked Sevilla the most. It is the largest of the three. The food was really good and cheap, and the city itself had interesting architecture.
I teach English in a local Colegio (high school). I teach about 14 hours a week
I would encourage all of you to try to learn a foreign language while you're young and it's easier. Consider Spanish! As a 26-year-old, trying to labor through this language, I often find myself wishing I had started learning a second language when I was much younger.
I would also advise you to develop an interest in cultures other than your own. The world is a huge place and when we realize life extends past our own city, we lead much richer lives.
