Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Jennifer Garcia-Ron, and I’m from Queens, New York. My family is from Guayaquil, Ecuador, so I grew up speaking both English and Spanish at home with my mother and grandmother. I’ve always loved learning new languages and discovering different cultures, especially because New York City is full of people from all over the world! When I was in middle school, my mom got me interested in history and geography, and that made me dream of traveling all over the world one day. I even made a special 'bucket list'—a list of amazing places I want to visit in my life—to keep me excited and working hard toward my goals. One of my dreams has always been to visit historical places in Europe, and that’s a big reason why I’m here in Spain today.

Before we head to Spain, let me tell you about some of my previous travels. One of the first big trips that I went on was when I was in high school. In 2012, I traveled to Cuzco, Peru, with a volunteer group called Global Leadership Adventures. We went there to help build a school for a small community in the Andes Mountains. It was a lot of hard work because it was my first time planting food and using tools like a hammer and nails! But it was such an amazing experience.
