Cali is in the department that is called Valle Del Cauca, which in English translates to Cauca Valley. It refers to the region in Colombia known for its rich agriculture and beautiful landscapes. In Cali, you get the best of both worlds because you still get the city feel but you never feel abandoned by nature. All throughout Cali, you can see mountains. In Cali specifically, there are many rivers that flow, but the Cali river is the most significant river that flows throughout the city.
I am lucky to be in Cali right now, because they are currently having the COP16 Conference here. It is a biodiversity conference in which leaders from several different countries come together to talk about how to protect the environment and fight climate change. This is the first time in a while that the conference has been held in Cali, so everyone is excited!
Valle Del Cauca has so many different types of flowers, animals (birds specifically) and plants that I have never heard of. I'm not a big nature girl, but I never get tired of experiencing nature in Cali. Who knows? Maybe I'll even get in a hike or two before leaving Colombia...
