Jessica's Autobiography

No matter how hard it may seem to to take that step, determination and will power will help a person through many obstacles. The biggest obstacle to going abroad is leaving my sons behind. As a mother, my children are my whole world. I will miss them greatly, but I know this choice will also help them as well.

I chose to study abroad because of the amazing experiences I will gain, as well as the education I'll be able to receive from another country. Not all countries are the same. They can be very different from each other, actually. Each one has its own laws and way of doing things. I know that I'll learn things in Ireland that I would never have learned back in a classroom in the United States.

Choosing to live in another country that is foreign to you takes some courage. In Ireland, I will be living in a different culture, around people that speak different languages that I do not understand. The money will be different. The food will be different. People in Ireland even drive on the other side of the road. These are all challenges I will face. In doing so, I will feel stronger as a person. I hope to become more rounded as an individual by learning to think outside of the box. I chose to study in Ireland specifically because that is where my ancestors are from. A long, long time ago, when America was still new, my family migrated here from Ireland. I have always had an inner dream to return there and explore my ancestral home. I am looking forward to sharing it with you!
