Korea’s Environment

It is home to wildlife and agriculture is planted along the stream. The upper part of the stream is also used for hydroelectric power.

What challenges do people face living in this environment?:

Korea is known to have a large amount of air pollution due to the country's reliance on natural resources and its abundant use of them. This pollution heavily affected the water causing scarcity of good water. There is also fewer natural forests and landscape due to human-made civilization. Due to the large population, there is a constant focus on going green and saving the environment.

How have people been adapting to this environment?:

Koreans have grown accustomed to local pollution and often can be seen casually wearing masks, even before the recent pandemic started. Most homes use water purifiers and would rather buy water from bottles than use tap water. To help the pollution, Koreans have adapted to riding public transportation. They have also adapted recycling into their lifestyle in a big way. For example, at my dormitory, the trash is separated into paper, cans, glass, general waste, food/drink waste, pet bottles and plastic. (I spend more time there than I'd like to admit). There are very few trash cans in public and you pay for disposable bags.
