Korea is home to many great culinary dishes. There is everything from traditional Korean and street food to international food. There are even restaurants in the nook and crannies of Korea that were suspicious at first glance but had a beautiful interior with quality food once you got inside. I have only tried about 25% of the food options here, but I still have good opinions on the local food culture.
So far, I have tried traditional Korean food such as dishes that have a main course as well as several side dishes. I have eaten modern, popular Korean food like Korean barbecue and chicken. I also visited several places that are outside of the country's norm such as Japanese, Italian and American chain restaurants such as Mcdonald's, KFC and Burger King.
When you go abroad, the food options are always intimidating and even scarier when you don't know what is exactly in it. It's important to have an open mind and embrace the difference that the country has. It will make the experience better and more enjoyable. When I try the food, I'm reminded of my childhood and how there are many similarities between Korean food and the Asian food I grew up eating. It makes everything easier to try and less daunting. Regardless of whether I like it or not, I am always glad that I had the opportunity to try it.
