They have the usual choices of white or brown rice, black or pinto beans, various meat options (like pulled pork, pulled beef, chicken or chorizo) and vegetables/sauces. Unfortunately, like most places, guacamole still costs extra. It's been fun going in and just ordering whatever strikes my fancy in the moment!
Blasta! (Delicious!) The dining area in Mama's Revenge is actually in its basement. It's tiny and quaint, but it feels so intimate. It's a lovely place to just sit down and really forget the world around you.
Every time we go, my friends and I have a great time sitting around the table and talking. The culture in Ireland is full of late nights out sitting at a restaurant conversing with one another. People here meet after the workday with loved ones to just catch-up. You feel that vibe when you go sit down at a place like a restaurant. There is an atmosphere of liveliness. And, let me say, the Irish are big chatters. This ambiance adds to an already great meal. All these food places have left me wanting to come back again and again. I've been to a a lot of amazing places, and I plan to stay on the lookout for even more.
I do have to go to a specialty store for the Latin ingredients I grew up with, like tomatillos (green tomatoes), corn flour (corn tortillas are not very common) and salsa verde. Additionally, avocados are sourced from Africa, but they are at least sold in most grocery stores. The only ingredient I truly miss from home is serrano peppers, but I make do! That's why places like Mama's Revenge have been amazing for me abroad.
