What It's Like Being a Seventh Grader in Taipei

What would you like to be when you grow up?:

A lot of my students said they want to be teachers or officer workers. Careers in civil service are seen as very admirable in their culture.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?:

The most common answer was definitely Japan. Some other common answers were the United States, Thailand, and Korea. Some students also want to see different countries in Europe.

What do you know or think about the United States?:

My students had a lot of silly answers to this question. They know that the United States is in a very different timezone and is also very big compared to Taiwan. They also think the USA is very rich!

What questions do you have for kids in the United States?:

My students are most interested in learning what it is like during the daily life of an American student. They want to know what your homework is like and what sports you like to play. They also want to know if you would ever want to come visit Taiwan!
