Ahoj (Hello)!
My name is Kaitlin, and I am from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in teaching English and directing theatre. Growing up, I had a lot of practice teaching English because my brother is adopted from Guatemala and my family hosted three foreign exchange students who have become like sisters to me. They all have English as their second language. I have also loved participating in theatre ever since I was little.
Last year, I decided to apply for a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant position in Slovakia, largely because my ancestors and two of my exchange student sisters are Slovakian. I was selected for the position, and now here I am, teaching English and global studies and directing the English Drama Club at a Slovak middle/high school!
I am currently living with a host family, which I love because it allows me to see what regular, everyday life is like in Slovakia. I can't wait to share my journey with you over the course of the next several weeks. Are you ready to go?
