Bonjour à tous! Salaam Maalekum! Hi Everyone in Ms Enos' class!

My name is Kathryn, and welcome to my journey of studying abroad in Senegal! You may be wondering why I said hi in three languages and this is because most Senegalese people are able speak more than three languages. Over the next two months, I will share lots of random facts about Senegal and teach you words in French (the official language) and Wolof (Senegal’s national language).

Before I share my journey, I will share my life in the United States. I’m a 20 year old college student studying at the University of Denver, but my family lives 1,500 miles away in Western Massachusetts. This means that I take a 4.5 hour plane ride to reach my school each semester. I’m majoring in studio art and international studies, and I’m minoring in French and leadership studies. Outside of classes I’m a ceramic artist, meaning I use clay to make sculptures and pottery. I spend at least 15 hours each week creating new art, and selling my pottery. I’m a member of my university curling team (the winter olympic sport with rocks and brooms) and the president of the yoga club.

Outside of school, I love taking walks, watching sunsets, solving sudoku puzzles, traveling and skiing.
