Greece: The Food Heaven of the Mediterranean!

Rigatoni Alfredo is just like your standard chicken alfredo, but here instead it is made with more of a cream base than cheese base. So it could taste a little bland to some people, but that's nothing some salt and pepper can’t fix!

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I actually had never tried any Mediterranean food before coming to Greece. To be truthful, I didn't even have a concept of what Mediterranean food would even look like. It actually makes me laugh because now I can’t imagine life before trying Gyros or Tzatziki. The food here has become so ingrained in my day-to-day life that I can’t even imagine what I was eating before arriving in Thessaloniki.

I will say, at the beginning I was a bit hesitant because I didn’t really know what to expect. My friends here call me a picky-eater, but I view myself as more of a familiar eater. I am just not typically an adventurous eater, but since being here I really have expanded my tastebuds. I am actually proud of myself because now I don’t even think twice when it comes to trying new food since being here!

How is the food prepared?:

I really feel like that food I’ve tried here in Thessaloniki has truly been made with love, care and dedication.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

Many of the dishes that I have mentioned before were given to us on-the-house! In particular, the yemista and the mosaiko were given to us by servers and owners once we told them we were American.
