The arroz congrí (black bean rice) is prepared by combining white rice, black beans, and different seasonings in a pot with water. It is cooked until the rice absorbs the water. It is served with a side salad and fried plantains.
The food is connected to its environment because some of the ingredients are locally grown. For example, the olive oil, onions, and rice that are used to cook the dish are all agricultural products produced in Spain.
