This weekend, I visited the capital of Minas Gerais: Belo Horizante. In Belo Horizante, there are a lot more tourists from around the world. While most people speak Portuguese, you might also hear Spanish, English, German or French in a restaurant or park.
People use the real instead of dollars. Three reais equal one U.S. dollar.
One bottle of water costs 2.50 reais. That's about 83 U.S. cents.
My best meal this week was pão de queijo at a local rest stop. It was filled with pork and local cheese from Minas Gerais!
Last night, I went to a live samba music show. During the show, people played on a stage in the middle of the music hall and everyone danced around the music all night. It was a lot of fun. Do you like dancing?
The most fun activity from this week was going to my first soccer game in Brazil! It was the Minas Gerais team Atlético Mineiros against the Vítoria soccer team. Our team won! It was wonderful to see all of my friends celebrating.
