If you order a juice anywhere, it will be freshly squeezed, and almost every milkshake is made with whole milk (and are absolutely perfect!). However, something I had to get used to was cooking my food with bottled water, since the tap water didn't always agree with me.
Most of the produce is grown locally, like the papayas, mangos, strawberries, cashews, and pineapples. Tomatoes are also very popular and many homes have tomatoes growing in their windows. So many of the dishes are based off of Italian dishes and meals prepared throughout the African Diaspora, which is why I felt very comfortable with many of the dishes--they remind me of home in Alabama.
