This week the weather was sunny and crisp. There has definitely been a noticeable drop in temperature from a few weeks ago. You can tell because it is starting to get really smoky and polluted in the city. This smoke comes from the ger districts, where new migrants to the city live. When it becomes cold, they burn wood and other things for warmth, causing significant air pollution. It's almost time to start wearing my pollution mask!
This week I saw goats, horses, and lots of cows! The cows were grazing near a beautiful monastery called Mandshir. Did you know that Mongolia has more animals than people? As soon as you drive a few minutes outside of Ulaanbaatar, there seem to be endless horses and cows.
