According to Norse mythology, a Valkyrie is a powerful female warrior who symbolizes bravery, character and triumph over adversity. The HMS Oardacious Valkyries are all of that and more! This team of four women from the Royal Navy is aiming to set a new world record for the first and fastest all-women serving miliary team to row across any ocean. What kind of super-human people could achieve such an incredible goal? Let's meet them!
IZZY RAWLINSON - I am Izzy and I am the Skipper, which means I am the Boss in the boat and it is my job to make sure we row across the Atlantic Ocean safely. We want to do something that no other team of women has done before in the Royal Navy. When I am not in a boat, I work on submarines as an engineer, which is similar to a mechanic. I love all sports, including swimming and cycling. I once did a 300-kilometer race, so I am already good at going at a steady pace for a long time. I have a twin sister who is a veterinarian, but she prefers training dogs for competitions (rather than rowing a boat).
