A Day in the Life of a German High School Senior

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I mostly speak German at school, but I take several foreign language courses, so I have to speak many foreign languages during the day while in class. Right now I'm studying English, Czech and French. We usually say Hallo! in German to greet another person, but a more formal greeting is Guten Tag (goo-ten tahg), which means good day.

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

Common names for girls are Lisa, Laura and Hannah. Some common names for boys are Johannes, Paul and Dominik.

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

I take classes in many different subjects. I'm studying English, Czech and French as foreign languages. I also have to take German. For science and math, I'm taking a biology course, a math course and a physics course that is taught in English. Other classes I'm taking now include history, religion, German-Czech relations, nature and technology, art and physical education. My favorite subjects are all of the foreign languages I'm studying.

What is your homework like?:

It depends on the day, but usually I have to read and write something for my humanities and language courses or I have to read and solve problems for my math and science courses. Of course, I also have to study for many tests.

What do you like to do after school? Do you have a favorite sport or game?:

I like to read, watch YouTube videos and cook. My favorite sport is horseback riding.
