A Day in the Life of a German High School Senior

Introduction:

H* is in her final year of Gymnasium here in Germany. In Germany, there are many different types of high schools, and the word Gymnasium refers to college preparatory high schools. At H's Gymnasium, 12th grade is the final year for students just like it is in the United States. If H came to study in the United States, she would be considered a senior in high school since she is currently in 12th grade. I interviewed H to find more about her daily life and her experiences at school.

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

For breakfast, I usually eat muesli, which is a type of cereal, with milk. I pack my lunch to take with me to school since I don't like the food at the school cafeteria, and they don't have many vegetarian options. I'm a vegetarian and I usually pack a simple lunch. I typically eat a cheese sandwich and an apple. My family buys a fresh loaf of bread every week from the baker and we slice the bread ourselves to make the sandwiches. During the school week, each member of my family takes turns making dinner for the entire family. When it is my turn, I like to make quiche!

What is your house like?:

My house is green and it is about two hundred years old.
