I stayed fairly close to Medellín this week, so the furthest I traveled was up to the final station on the Medellín tram line, Santo Domingo, up in the hills above the main downtown. The tram ride from the central San Antonio station to Santo Domingo lasted about 30 minutes.
My trip to Quibdó, Chocó was the longest journey from Medellín that I've taken so far. By bus, the trip took about eight hours one way. Roundtrip, I traveled 284 miles to and from Quibdó.
The coolest mode of transportation that I used this week was the tram, which connects downtown Medellín to small neighborhoods in the hills surrounding the city. Since the tram began running, it has improved the lives of the thousands of residents who live outside Medellín's central zones but need to commute regularly for work and errands. While I was just there to enjoy the view on my tram ride, many Medellín locals use it just like any other form of transportation to get to where they need to go efficiently.
