The weather in La Macarena was hot and sticky. Think NYC summers, but nowhere to escape the heat for air conditioning! However, thanks to the many rivers and cañons, we were able to swim fairly often. The river water was a rich, greenish blue. Right after swimming, we had to walk around for a while to dry off since it was just so humid!
There weren't too many animals in La Macarena, although we did see ducks, bright green parrots and birds of paradise. We even saw monkeys for a quick second, but I barely got to look at them before they scattered off. Our boat waited around for a bit to catch a glimpose of la dolfina rosada, the pink dolphin, but it stayed under the river waves.
