This was our first truly cold week in Omsk. Our first snowfall happened on Sunday, and then we continued to have small snowfalls overnight throughout the week. The snow is still not sticking, however, so we have a few weeks of fall left.
I have noticed lots of pigeons and sparrows this week. Whenever I see them, they are eating crumbs off the sidewalk or the dirt. I think this is so that they are prepared either to migrate south or stay warm in the winter.
This week, on my walk home from my Russian classes, I saw a cat wandering through a garden with a pigeon in its mouth. Before I could get a picture, it disappeared behind some bushes. However, this is the same garden in which I have seen kittens previously, so I think that cat was bringing food to its family.
