From Lanskroun to Budapest and back, it is 576 miles.
10,466 miles traveled so far!
I took the train to Budapest and back home. When I needed to get around the city, I took the tram and the funicular.
Underground in Hungary, there are rivers of hot water called thermal springs. This water is heated up from the temperature of the Earth. Sometimes nearby volcanoes can heat up the water underground, too. In Budapest, many beautiful baths have been made from this hot water. Like going to a public swimming pool, people come to soak in these baths and swim in the warm waters that come from underground.
My favorite place this week was the Gellert Baths. In this hotel next to the river you can swim in some of the most beautiful baths in Budapest. As soon as you walk inside the building you can feel the thick steamy air fill up your lungs. When you walk downstairs and change into your bathing suit, the air gets even warmer and heavier.
When I walked into the beautiful bath hall I saw that it was covered in bright blue and green tiles. There were golden fountains that poured the bubbling water from under the ground into the pools. And above us was a clear glass ceiling.
