Many Indians have services in their homes that would be considered luxuries in the United States, like a housemaid, cook, and chauffeur. Why is it that even middle class Indians who are not rich have these services? Why do they need them? Read on to learn more about this part of life in India that is so different from life in the United States.
I learned about home services in India. Many times, I've heard people around me complain about how difficult it is to keep a house in India. They rely on house help to clean their houses, make food, and get around the city. Why is this?
India is incredibly polluted and overpopulated. That means there is too much smoke in the air and too many people on the ground.
Since there is so much dust, houses are swept and cleaned once or twice a day. In the United States, we might vaccum once a week or maybe a few times a week, but in India, if you skip one day of sweeping the floor, it looks like it's been weeks! There's so much dust!
Indian meals are also very elaborate. Each meal requires multiple curries, which may take a few hours to make.
What about driving? Since there are so many people in India, there's also a lot of traffic.
