I met Gabriela through the university where I work because she is a student in one of my English classes. She already speaks English really well, however, so we take turns practicing Spanish and English. We became friends because we both like watching musicals, singing and learning about different cultures. I think you'll like her, too!
My full name is María Gabriela Monrroy. It's common for people in Colombia to have two first names, instead of a first and middle name as in the U.S.
I am from a little town called Chinácota in the region of Norte de Santander. My town is commonly known as “The pretty house of Norte Santander.” Chinácota is fairly touristy, and we grow a lot of strawberries and potatoes there. We have many farms in the area, so agriculture is an important part of our economy.
My house is in an old historical building, so from the outside, it looks like an old house. In fact, my mom and dad run a pharmacy in the front of the building, and behind the pharmacy is our white house. We just renovated our home's interior a few years ago, though, so inside the house is new.
