An Inside Look at Daily Life for One of My Students

Introduction:

Through this field note, I'm happy to introduce you to one of my new first semester students, Christian Camilo Zafra Gómez. Here, most people have four names, including their first and second names and then two apellidos (last names), one from each parent. Many students choose to go by their second first name, but Christian just goes by "Christian." He is a bright student in my Basic English class! Since this article intends to capture the life of a Colombian university student, all of the pictures included are moments captured with my students so far.

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

Christian says he doesn't usually eat breakfast. For lunch today, he had spaghetti and potatoes, which were leftovers from the previous night's dinner.

What is your house like?:

Christian says he doesn't have a house. He lives in an apartment that is a little small, but it's okay because it's just for him, his brother, mother and dog.

What chores do you have at home?:

At home, Christian is responsible for walking his dog. Depending on the day, he helps out with other daily tasks, like washing the dishes and sweeping.

What jobs do your parents have?:

Christian's mother is a graphic designer, but she doesn't work in that field at the moment.
