Oktoberfest is a festival that celebrates the wedding of King Louis I and Princess Therese of Bavaria during the 1800's. When the wedding party was finished, they had horse races. Horses are still used today as a symbol of Bavaria and Oktoberfest. At the beginning of the festival, people ride on beautifully dressed horses or the horses pull them on wagons in a parade. This starts off the celebration.
The horses are usually dark colors such as black or brown. They have very intricate outfits that sometimes have a gold trim. The outfits symbolize the different tribes of Bavaria. Their look is sometimes medieval. Their breed is the Southern German Cold Blooded horse. They are very strong and can pull people on wagons with ease.
They were very fun to look at. They were very well behaved, except for one. He went crazy and tried to throw his owner off of his back. The horses must get pretty stressed out because they have to listen to loud oom-pah music for a long time.
