Spanish is the official language of Asturias, but many people also speak Asturiano which is a dialect of Spanish. In the small towns, the street signs are often written in both Spanish and Asturiano. In one of the schools I am working in, students can take Asturiano as a second language.
Just like most other European countries, Spain uses the euro. One euro is almost equal to the worth of one dollar.
The cost of a bottle of water depends on the brand of the water; however, most of the time a bottle of water costs less than one euro!
The best meal I had this week was Cachopo with french fries. Cachopo is a meal that is very typical of Asturias. It is veal, ham, and cheese that is breaded and fried. Cachopo is usually served in huge portions, and it is meant to be shared with at least one other person. People say that cachopo is not made correctly unless it is bigger than the plate!
