Our News

I listened to salsa, hip-hop and regetton music.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

I had the pleasure of climbing an inactive volcano named Ilalo this past weekend. This volcano is 3,188 meters above sea level and was challenging to climb. I had to walk between bushes, trees and spiked plants. Although it was a tough climb, the views at the summit (top) were incredible. You could see the city of Quito and the surrounding mountains. I always have a blast when on a mountain adventure!

What did I read this week?:

This week I mainly read a book called Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis. She mainly talks about ways that women can conquer anything they set their minds to. This read has been really motivational while I continue my mission here in Ecuador.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

This week I tried a kickboxing class! I learned the eight basic punching moves, learned breathing techniques and worked on strengthening my legs and core. By the end of the workout, I was left feeling sore and sweaty, but also accomplished!

Other news from this week:

This week I went swimming with my host sister! We had such a blast swimming laps in the pool and trying new tricks. The best time to swim is in the early afternoon when the sun is shining the strongest. Swimming in the pool is the best way to cool down and get some exercise in!
